Do you want to drive around Bloomfield, Newark, and Clifton in a stylish and well-equipped sedan? If so, then you may be a good match for either the 2020 Subaru Legacy or Honda Accord. The only question is: Which one is going to give you more of what you need?

To figure it out, the team at Lynnes Subaru compared the Legacy vs. Accord to see how they measured up in terms of engine power, smart safety features, and infotainment tech. Keep reading to learn more!

2020 Subaru Legacy vs Honda Accord: Engine Power

Since both the Subaru Legacy and Honda Accord are known to deliver on performance, we wanted to put that to the test and see just how much power they can give us. To do that, we looked at their highest-output engines.

In the Legacy, this available engine is the 2.4L turbocharged engine that generates 260 horsepower. The Accord, on the other hand, has a 2.0L turbocharged engine that delivers 252 horsepower. This is still impressive, but it falls just short of what you can get with the Subaru Legacy.

The drivetrain reveals another major difference between these two sedans. While the Honda Accord comes standard with front-wheel drive, the Subaru Legacy comes with Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (AWD). This gives the Subaru a bit more handling capability on tough terrain and may make it a more suitable ride for snowy wintertime commutes.

Legacy vs Accord: Smart Safety Features

Both the Subaru Legacy and Honda Accord make safety a priority by offering a standard suite of features designed to help you be more aware of your surroundings when you take the wheel. These standard systems include:

  • Forward Collision Mitigation
  • Lane Keeping Assist
  • Smart Cruise Control

In addition to what we listed above, the Legacy offers Pre-Collision Throttle Management as part of its standard EyeSight® suite. This feature reduces power to your engine to help you avoid accidentally accelerating into the car in front of you while merging.

It can also help prevent you from hitting the car parked in front of you if you accidentally switch into drive instead of reverse while backing out of a parking space.

Unfortunately, the Honda Accord doesn't offer a comparable feature.

Infotainment Technology

The key to a great drive is a high-tech infotainment system. This is something you'll find in both the 2020 Subaru Legacy and Honda Accord.

Both sedans come standard with a 7-inch touchscreen display in the center stack, which acts as your command center for climate controls, audio, and more. They also come standard with Bluetooth® wireless connectivity. This allows you to sync your smartphone with your car's infotainment system for hands-free phone calls and wireless audio streaming.

You'll also have Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatibility in both vehicles. However, the Subaru Legacy makes these standard, while the Honda Accord requires a trim level upgrade before this level of connectivity is available to you.

While you can upgrade the screen size of your Accord to an optional 8-inch display, comparing the upgraded screen sizes of the Subaru Legacy vs. Honda Accord, those with the Legacy will have an easier time navigating these features. When equipped with this available feature, your Subaru Legacy will have an 11.6-inch multimedia touchscreen display.
