2016 Subaru Legacy vs. 2016 Honda Accord

Buying an affordable sedan is an exciting process. But with so many options on the market, it's easy to get lost in the sea of vehicle specifications and forget what matters most.

In this Lynnes Subaru vehicle comparison between the 2016 Subaru Legacy and the 2016 Honda Accord, we look at the two basic categories that mean the most to buyers just like you: capability and technology.

Vehicle Capability Comparison

The 2016 Subaru Legacy has two available engine options. The first is a 2.5-liter DOHC aluminum alloy 16-valve horizontally opposed four-cylinder SUBARU BOXER engine with a dual active valve control system. This engine produces 175 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque.

The second available engine is a 3.6-liter DOHC aluminum alloy 24-valve horizontally opposed six-cylinder SUBARU BOXER engine with a dual active valve control system. This engine produces 256 horsepower and 247 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are paired with the smooth-transitioning Lineartronic continuously variable transmission.

To compare, the 2016 Honda Accord also has two available engine options: an inline four-cylinder 16-valve DOHC i-VTEC engine and a 24-valve SOHC i-VTEC V6 engine. The Accord, however, isn't as road ready as the 2016 Subaru Legacy for one major reason. While the Accord does offer a smooth ride in perfect road conditions, the Subaru Legacy offers even more with its standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. That means the vehicle can handle whatever the road ahead has in store for you.

Technology for Convenience and Entertainment

Both Subaru and Honda are known for producing high-quality vehicles with all of the advanced technology you could want at an affordable MSRP. However, there are some major differences in the offerings of each vehicle when it comes to technology for convenience and entertainment. For starters, the 2016 Honda Accord offers a 7-inch display audio system with high-resolution WVGA electrostatic touchscreen and customizable feature settings. The audio system comes standard with six speakers.

Up against the 2016 Subaru Legacy, however, that system simply dulls in comparison. The Legacy comes with a standard 6.2-inch STARLINK multimedia touchscreen audio system and a 7-inch system as well. While the Honda system has two screens and can be confusing to use, the classic touchscreen in the Legacy is highly intuitive, responsive, and easy to use.
