Compact SUVs are known for being spacious, versatile vehicles with plenty of features. Many Bloomfield, Montclair, and Clifton drivers are interested in the Forester and Rogue, but may not be sure which is right for them.

To help you out, our team at Lynnes Subaru created this Subaru Forester vs. Nissan Rogue comparison. Explore their characteristics below to see what your next new ride could be.

Passenger & Cargo Space

The Subaru Forester and Nissan Rogue are compact SUVs that can easily fit five people. The Forester has 111.9 cubic feet of passenger volume and is especially spacious in the back. It has 39.6 inches of headroom and 39.4 inches of legroom for backseat passengers to comfortably stretch out.

The Rogue, meanwhile, has 105.8 cubic feet of passenger volume. Its back seat is also not quite as spacious, as it has 38.5 inches of headroom and 37.9 inches of legroom.

The Forester offers more cargo room, as well. With 76.1 cubic feet behind the first row, you'll have more than enough space for gardening supplies, biking equipment, or road trip items. Unfortunately, you won't find as much space in the Rogue. When the rear seats are folded down, you'll get just 70 cubic feet of cargo room.

Interior Features

The Forester and Rogue have plenty of features to help make your drives more enjoyable. They each come standard with cloth seats and have available leather-trimmed upholstery, for a sophisticated look and feel.

The Rogue also has an available 8-way power driver's seat, to get in that perfect position behind the wheel. However, the Forester has an available 10-way power driver's seat for even more comfort configurations.

They both offer heated front seats and a heated steering wheel, to get cozy on cold winter nights.

In addition, each SUV comes standard with Bluetooth® technology to stream audio or make phone calls. This makes it easier to keep your hands on the steering wheel and your eyes on the road ahead.

The Forester also comes standard with Pandora® and iHeartRadio. With these features, you'll never run out of great music to listen to. While the Rogue has plenty of entertainment options, it doesn't come with the ones found in the Forester.

Performance Specs

With a cushioned ride and stable handling, the Forester and Rogue are great vehicles to drive around town.

The Subaru model comes standard with a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine that delivers 182 horsepower and 176 lb-ft of torque. The Nissan vehicle, on the other hand, offers slightly less power with its 2.5L 4-cylinder. It only delivers 170 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque.

Most people prefer SUVs for that all-wheel drive dependability. Luckily, the 2019 Subaru Forester comes standard in Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. This system will respond to varying road conditions quickly and will evenly distribute power for maximum traction.

The 2019 Nissan Rogue also has an impressive all-wheel-drive system. Unfortunately, it doesn't come standard.

Subaru Forester vs Nissan Rogue: Verdict

With a more spacious interior, standard all-wheel drive, and a longer list of features, the 2019 Subaru Forester may be the better option for you. If you still need help deciding, then schedule a test drive at Lynnes Subaru.

We want to help drivers like you in Bloomfield, Montclair, and Clifton find your dream car. The Forester may be that one, but you'll have to test drive it to find out!
