The Subaru Legacy has been leaving its mark all over the auto industry ever since it was first released. Now the brand gears up for the release of its 2020 model year, it's clear that it's still going to make waves and turn heads.
The 2020 Subaru Legacy will hit showrooms in the fall of 2019. While drivers in Bloomfield, Montclair, and Clifton have to wait a bit before they can get behind the wheel, the team at Lynnes Subaru is here with an insider look at the latest Legacy model year.
If you're thinking about getting behind the wheel, here's everything you need to know about the upcoming 2020 Subaru Legacy.
What's New for the 2020 Subaru Legacy?
- Available turbocharged engine
- Upgraded 4-cylinder engine
- Touring trim with Nappa leather
- Updated exterior
- More standard and available safety
More Power for 2020
For 2020, expect even more power and performance from the Legacy thanks its new turbocharged engine. The 2.6L turbocharged SUBARU BOXER® engine is standard on the all-new XT trims, and they can generate up to 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque. The base 2.5L engine also gets an upgrade with up to 182 horsepower and 176 lb-ft of torque, which is a bit of an improvement from the 175 horsepower engine from previous models.
The 2020 model year brings upgrades to a few performance features, too. For example, the advanced continuously variable transmission can maintain its impressive horsepower 32% better than the systems from previous years. It can also help it provide a more efficient performance. The MacPherson struts come with new internal rebound springs as well as a new stabilizer bar for a more dynamic performance and better ride comfort.
And as always, the 2020 Legacy will come standard with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. So, if it gets a little too snowy in North Jersey next year, the Legacy can still help you get to wherever you need to go.
New and Improved Design for 2020
Bolder and more athletic, the Legacy will feature an upgraded design that complements its impressive performance perfectly. However, the most significant change in its overall style comes in the form of two trim levels: the new Touring XT, and the updated Sport.
Spacious and sophisticated, the interior of the Legacy Touring XT offers a comfortable ride for all. It features high-gloss black molding for the pillars as well as satin tone plated mirrors on its exterior, too, to help stand out more from the crowd. Plus, the Touring XT trim for the Legacy will be the first Subaru to feature plush Nappa leather upholstery.
The Legacy Sport trim is also getting updated for 2020. Overall, the Sport trim has always been the one to exude a high-performance feel. However, like many other aspects of the sedan, Subaru has taken it a step even further with performance-oriented design features, including an exclusive rear bumper and a trunk lid spoiler. Its interior gets a sporty treatment, too, with aluminum pedals and striking red stitching.
A More Advanced and Well-Equipped Legacy
Looking for a state-of-the-art well-equipped sedan for 2020? Make your plans to test drive the Subaru Legacy now. It's set to feature even more cutting-edge technologies to boost everything from performance to safety to your overall driving experience.
One of the most anticipated amenities for 2020 will be the available DriverFocusâ„¢ Distraction Mitigation System. Using a camera and facial recognition software, it can help you get a better idea of when you're getting tired or distracted behind the wheel. If you start showing signs of drowsiness or distractedness, the feature will automatically pop a warning on the infotainment and meter display, so you know when it's time to pull over and take a break from the road.
A Front View Mirror will be available for the 2020 Legacy, as well, so you can get an even better look into the blind spots in front of your car. Also, the innovative EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology system now comes standard for every Legacy.
